Rocca is a preserved 14th-century stronghold offering wonderful views of the town. It has scenic gardens to complement the imposing towers and fascinating war relics. Stroll along the walkway to follow in the footsteps of guards and military personnel over the centuries.
Among the structure’s highlights is the main tower. Climb to the top to enjoy the spectacular views of the Citta Alta (Upper Town) from this hilltop fortress. You can see the southern half of the city on one side and the peaks of the Orobie Alps to the north. On clear days, look for Milan in the distance.
Relax in the serene gardens of the fortress and gaze up at the walls and turrets. Spot the various relics that date from World Wars I and II. Learn how the stronghold was initially built in 1331, before being restored and renovated many times since.

The fortress is open for visits Tuesday through Sunday from morning until early evening, with a brief closure at lunchtime. There is an entry fee for adults those under 18 years old get in for free.
Rocca is on the Sant’Eufemia hilltop a little east of the Citta Alta district that contains the historic center. Arrive at the Funicolare Citta Bassa station and walk northeast for a couple of minutes to get here.
