"Comfortable apartment with a serviceable kitchen. No microwave and little hot water for dishes. The shower had hot water. "4 French-Canadian friends imagined themselves living their best Italian life for their 40th birthday, in a villa with their families. Well we lived the dream, and then some! The villa is simply exquisite. Yes, it's (very) hot in summer, but the quality of the house, the pool, the view, the proximity to great places like Vietri, are all well worth it. And Claudio and his wife are so friendly. I recommend, 100%! "

"I have stayed in many villas including rural Italy before. This is actually the worst I've stayed in. The facts are the access to the villa is up a rough rubble and grit track, it's parking area has well established weeds. The patio was dirty and leafy , I was told "it is the countryside and leaves fall" but it didn't account for the old pair of wellingtons, the stale bread in a plastic bag, the bit of wrought iron or the patio table covered in a very dirty cloth with 5 plants and a broken vase...

"The apartment itself was very comfortable and well appointed. The grounds/ gardens were beautiful and a nice place to relax. We traveled in all directions and the location could not have been better, and the final joy was the town of Calvanico where we enjoyed sitting with the locals and being involved in Italian life."

"Casa Rosa is a large house with space and comfort for 8 although we were only 7. The pool is large and Guiseppe keeps it beautifully clean. The house is located within an hour of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Paestum the Amalfi Coast and is an ideal place to sight see all the extraordinary monuments around Vesuvius. Guiseppe is kind and responsive host, his neighbours less so but he did everything to make our stay a happy and agreeable one. "

"I would definitely stay at Hotel Montestella again. It is centrally located in Salerno in that if you walk in one direction, you reach the "Old town" with the restaurants and shops, Cathedral and beach part in 10-15 minutes and if you walk in the other direction, you reach the train station in 8 minutes. If you go "down" you reach the "strip walkway" in 2 minutes. The staff were helpful and allowed us to check in early at 1230 and let us check out late at 1130. There is also a nice lobby with couches that we hung out at because our train didn't leave till 1600 and the staff told us it was no problem to hang out as long as we needed to. The breakfast was really good--coffee machines made cappuchinos and lattes, and there were scrambled eggs, sausages, an assortment of pastries, bread, fruit, and cereal. I also appreciated that the yogurt was refridgerated--we stayed at several hotels in Europe and yogurt was sometimes left out at room temperatures. The only thing to note about this hotel and it's not their fault--there is construction on the road in front of it. The earliest we heard anything was 0830 and the latest was 1730, so it did not bother us at all, but thought I would mention in case people are sensitive to noise during those times. I would definitely stay here again and recommend Hotel Montestella to anyone staying in Salerno."
