"This was fantastic traditional lodging. Our rooms were spacious and the public bath was an incredibly special extra perk. We were our kimonos and yukatas to the bath. The dining for both dinner and breakfast require reservations and are well worth it. Our only negative experience was the front desk telling us that the restaurant we wanted to eat at did not require a reservation, but discovering upon arrival that reservations are obligatory. "

The location of the ryokan is within walking distance to the town and close to the train station. Hotel provides a bus shuttle to the train station. "We loved our stay at Ryokan Sansui. The view of the mountains around the hotel were amazing with tri-colored foliage. The staff were also very lovely and kind. The food was also delicious and more than I had expected. Communication wasn't too easy, but the message would get across. The best part was, of course, the onsen (hot spring) experience. They offer both public (gender-separated) hot springs and baths, as well as 4 private ones that don't need prior booking or extra fees. Getting there...
