"Wanosato was exactly what I hoped for in a ryokan. The buildings are beautiful, and the riverside setting in the forest was a dream. It felt hugely private and was so relaxing. Staff were lovely and the level of service was fantastic. The kaiseki dinner blew us away - the food was all delicious and the level of care in making it was amazing. I could not recommend this place enough, and am only sad that I could not stay longer! "

"First time at a ryokan, so I had no specific expectations. Traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast were excellent. Close to bus stop that’s only about 10 minutes from the train and bus stations. Shuttle service is also available. 10-15 walk from the Hida No Sato open-air museum, although it’s a fairly steep uphill walk."

Not many facilities in the hotel, a bar andbistro in the lobby and a sauna that requires a reservation, all bathing is done privately in your room. City views surrounded by mountains on all sides made the balcony our highlight, a great place to take in the fresh mountain air and relax.
