The vision of a farm boy from the Ozarks, this award-winning performing arts company is a must-see attraction in Myrtle Beach.

For an unforgettable night out in Myrtle Beach, arrange a visit to The Carolina Opry. Missouri native Calvin Gilmore is the visionary behind this widely celebrated company, which first opened in a modest theater in 1986. Now a hot-ticket item, the variety show entertains all ages with 2 hours of upbeat music, comedy and dance with state-of-the-art lighting, sound and special effects.

Watch more than 35 top performers across all genres in this high-energy show. The elements of the show vary throughout the year, offering fresh songs, costumes and entertainment. Look for stars such as teen phenomenon Rory John Zak, the All That! clogging group made famous on America’s Got Talent, singing star Christie Templeton, and fiddling and bluegrass champions.

Several additional award-winning productions are performed at theater. One favorite is Time Warp, with music from the 1960s to the 1980s. Thunder & Light is a laser light and dance show. Other features include illusion and magic performances and holiday specials.

Fill the day before your anticipated Carolina Opry performance exploring the Grand Strand in Myrtle Beach. This coastal strip of South Carolina’s Atlantic coast strings together several beach destinations along 60 miles (100 kilometers) of white sand. From Little River to Georgetown, you can go deep-sea saltwater fishing, parasailing or shopping. Golf is especially popular here, with 90 courses within a 30-minute drive of Myrtle Beach. Ride on a Ferris wheel or simply sit and watch the tide come in. Build sandcastles and play in the waves at Surfside Beach, widely known as a family-friendly location.

Tour North Myrtle Beach, home to championship golf courses and great fishing. See the spot where the Shag dance was born in the 1930s. Even better, join others for real-time lessons and a full evening of fun.

Find The Carolina Opry Theater along the Grand Strand, about a 20-minute drive northeast from the Myrtle Beach Airport.
