"Great place very handy for all the main sites with plenty of eatery places within walking distance. The bar and front desk area are a little cold but the rooms are spacious and the bed comfortable. Buses to the city stop on the roundabout outside the hotel and there is a 24 hour store across the road. Just a small concern is that they take your credit card on arrival and take $500 off it straight away. When you leave they add $131.00 to your bill for services such as wi-fi and water in your room...

"We were in the "victorian" side if the hotel. Weirdly, all the light switches were waist high. The onky rwal problwm was an unclean towel that had a giant wad of hair on it. But, it was addressed with staff and we got a free breakfast as compensation. Overall great stay. "

But it has held on to the irritating habit (now abandoned by most top hotels, especially in European cities) of having a minibar that, if you move an object (say, to cool the bottle of room-temperature water that is provided to guests) you are immediately charged. In my case,$49, which I happened to notice on my electronic checkout. The woman at the front desk kindly removed it...
