Learn more about the area’s winemaking history. Wine production by the Princely House of Liechtenstein was already flourishing in the 1400s. At this time it was concentrated in the Austrian region of Wilfersdorf. Prince Hans Adam von Liechtenstein acquired the county of Vaduz in 1712. In doing so, he also gained control of the Herawingert vineyards. The mild temperatures and exposure to warm, downslope winds of this Rhine Valley region present optimum winemaking conditions.
A guided tour of the winery will take you through the vineyards and teach you about the different varieties of grape grown here. Hofkellerei Liechtenstein (Wine Cellars of the Prince of Liechtenstein – Hofkellerei des Fürsten von Liechtenstein) is open from Monday to Saturday. Tours are available by prior appointment only.
