The hotel grounds were beautiful and very well decorated for Christmas. It was in a great location as well, 5 minute walk to the city centre. However our room was fairly average and a bit dated. The cleanliness was also lacking. Needed a good hoover before we arrived with bits and fluff everywhere. The back of the toilet was also rather grim. Don't think I'll be staying here again.

Disappointed after high expectations. With experience in managing and staying in hotels, I understand how room advertising works, but this was clear false advertising. The room we were given was nothing like what was advertised by room type, description and image (or receipt!) and staff attributed the mismatch to a "marketing error". Attempts to resolve the issue were minimal. The room itself was dirty—dark fibers on pillows, hair in the shower, and false eyelash extensions on the bed. The mugs were chipped, though thankfully noticed before use. While the rest of the hotel and gardens looked fantastic, the room experience fell far short.

Excellent central location hotel
Amazing hotel worth every penny, great central location and best hotel I have stayed in York. Room was huge had corner sofa and lots of nice touches including robes, proper mugs, ear plugs, eye mask, bottled water and a huge king size bed. Excellent service by the staff and breakfast was beautiful full English or can order off the menu very healthy no fat at all.

On our arrival there was milk and water in the fridge to make tea or coffee. But when the room was cleaned the next day, the bottle of milk was removed and the water was not replenished. So how were we supposed to make tea and coffee? When the room was serviced the bathroom floor was not clearly not swept and dirty glasses were not removed.

Good place to stay.
Stayed only one night… would have been very happy to stay longer. Very decent double bedroom with very large bathroom. All the usual facilities. First class breakfast. Would recommend arriving early if you want to be sure of car parking space. Within walking distance of city centre and attractions. Highly recommend and would happily stay here again.

Lovely hotel less than 10 minutes walk from the heart of York. Staff were super helpful and accommodating. Room was a good size with a huge bed. Room was really well presented with bath robes,complementary snacks at good quality coffee and hot chocolate. The only fault with this hotel was the noise in the rooms from the common areas and squeaky floors but it was liveable. Would stay again in a heart beat.

Refresh the disabled toilet.
Beautiful room- ideal for one person with garden view. But, I arrived early and asked for somewhere to change after a long train Journey. I was directed to the toilets. I changed in the disabled/baby changing toilet as I had a large case and bags from travelling which I needed for changing. This toilet was in disrepair and smelled badly. The ladies toilets were modern and fresh. The nappy bin needs to be emptied more regularly and bathroom updated. It does not reflect the rest of the hotel.

Lovely buildings. Room very good (I think we were upgraded Cus it was huge)2 comfy armchairs. Big bed with great linen. Nice extra touches like a little pouch of sleep essentials and white linen toiletries. Bathroom could do with a deep clean but apart from that excellent facilities. Would stay again
