"Old school stately charm, the staff make an effort to provide a luxurious experience in this historically grand hotel. Great to have a bathtub, bathrooms have been renovated. "I was met by Kay in the Dining rolm which had a log fire burning. She was incredibly welcoming and made you feel relaxed. Nothing was too much yrouble and the room was first class. All other public rooms and kitchen were excellent. A very quiet and relaxing place to stay. Than you"

"Tomintoul is a lovely little village in the highlands. The hosts are terrific, breakfast was lovely, and the bed was comfortable. We'd definitely go back!"

"Only stayed for three nights, but thought it was a lovely place. The room decor is very modern/contemporary, which is what I like. Bed and bedding was comfortable, but was only a small double bed, presumably because the room was quite small. We will stay again , but will book a bigger room next time."

"This is a Beautiful old 120 year old hotel with all of its charm and its great that its running Most get gutted out and turned into super expensive and exclusive rooms without any thought to the community Theres not many treasures like this left these days I bet the locals are so glad of that too Its a lovely friendly place with very friendly staff and excellent meals I wish you all the best 👍"

"Great find. 5 mins up dual carriageway from Aviemore. Beautiful wee village. Bar full of locals. Always a good sign. Stayed with my dog. Very dog friendly. Good breakfast. Cooked to order, no buffet Will definitely be back with the misses."

"No frills lodging. It's an older building, and it is showing it's age, but it's sufficient for a night or two. Big tub in the bathroom. Rooms are warm (It's Oct and cold!). Good accommodations for the price. Make sure you check your email ahead of time for the key box code, or you will have to call from the unstaffed reception. Free coffee and snacks at breakfast. "

"The peace & quiet here was amazing! Other guests were respectful & the only noise in the morning was the ducks looking for food. Our lodge was dated but comfortable. There were a few minor issues but nothing that affected our stay. So in summary the accommodation is not luxurious but the location & setting are wonderful if it’s a quiet break you are looking for. "

"The hotel is located within some outstanding scenery with Loch Alvie literally on your doorstep. We were all made to feel welcome, including Dizzy the dog , and the chefs produced some delicious food as we sat near a blazing log fire. Room and bathroom were very clean and well appointed. The only grumble we would have is that we were charged for our dog's stay on a nightly basis, to cover additional cleaning, as opposed to per visit, you would only clean the room once even after 2 nights stay."

"Budget accommodation which is clean and had a bath with plenty of hot water. It also provided a kettle etc. We asked for a cot which was provided. It would have been good to have a fridge"

"The hotel is located within some outstanding scenery with Loch Alvie literally on your doorstep. We were all made to feel welcome, including Dizzy the dog , and the chefs produced some delicious food as we sat near a blazing log fire. Room and bathroom were very clean and well appointed. The only grumble we would have is that we were charged for our dog's stay on a nightly basis, to cover additional cleaning, as opposed to per visit, you would only clean the room once even after 2 nights stay."
