Only downside was we were too early in the season to enjoy the rooftop (not the hotel’s fault) but plenty of bars, microbreweries and cafes nearby to choose from instead."

Our room was spacious and comfortable with double aspect windows looking out towards the river. Could do with a little TLC (extractor fan not working in the bathroom and toilet flush not great!) but nothing that affected our stay. "Bed was old and uncomfortable but everything else was great"

"I like its history and the Staff are excellent. I disliked: a) Wasting so much milk. I only needed a small spoonful. b) Morning shower.......the water was tepid at the most despite the fact that I reported it and was assured it would be better next day. c) Noisy, especially on Friday night. I could feel the bedroom floor vibrating. d) I found the dinner menu very limited after the first evening. "

"If you wish to visit Canterbury, the Lodge provides an incredibly convenient and quite comfortable place to stay. For those outside the main Lodge, the stairs may prove problematic for some, particularly those with extensive luggage or mobility issues. That notwithstanding, the access to the Cathedral grounds was lovely, and we would happily stay at the Lodge again."

"Great location right opposite the pier. Rooms are very generous and the beds very comfortable. Parking was easy also as there is a carpark just behind the hotel (council operated). "
