"I was traveling from the US with my wife, daughter (13 yrs old) and my nephew (16 yrs old). The hotel is very quaint and my kids loved the characters and tradition. It does not have many amenities but in Canterbury city center it is very convenient. The parking was a little tricky to find at night especially from someone from the US. The roads were small and signs were lacking. The biggest complaint was the heater in our room was not working and it was winter. But because of its charm and...

"Great stay, lovely staff, and a building full of character! Breakfast and the pool were truly awesome, too. The only downside was some furniture/equipment needing a bit of love (door knob broken on the bedside table, screw on the window loose, hook behind the door in the changing rooms of the pool broken etc), plus a bit of noise from the road but really nothing major at all, it was a lovely stay overall"

"I cannot praise this hotel highly enough! Just wish I could have stayed longer. The staff were kind & helpful, my room was spotless, warm & comfortable, the public areas were tastefully decorated, the grounds were beautiful & the buffet breakfast was delicious, with lots of choice. "Actually, I was sick the entire time I was there, not the fault of the Black Horse. However, the parking situation is terrible. While sick, I had to move the car several times. I found my rental car was side-swiped, and I'm having to pay for damages my insurance doesn't cover. Again, not the fault of the Black Horse."

"This was our second stay at this hotel and it was as good as the last. We stayed 3 nights. Room and bathroom really clean. Staff were all friendly, attentive and helpful at check-in, breakfast and dinner. Easy parking and walk in to town is easy. "

"Fantastic decor and all the staff were super friendly and welcoming. Really nice atmosphere in the cocktail bar over the weekend, could have done with an additional staff member as cocktails can take a while to make and if you just want a beer or glass of wine, then its a little wait, however lovely surroundings to wait in. Everything you may like to do in Canterbury is within easy walking distance and some lovely restaurants right on your doorstep. Parking is an additional cost, I hadn't really noticed this when booking, also the fact that if you go out in the car, you may not have a space to come back to even though you have paid for 24hours. We just managed to get the last space in the little back car park on the second evening, but it's a very tight entrance which some vehicles may struggle to use. Would definitely recommend the hotel to others, it was just unfortunate we needed to use the car for work so there felt a little jeopardy as to whether we would get parked when we got back."

Nice place. Friendly services.

"The hotel is very nice and within 5 minutes walk of the centre. Sanjeewa was very nice. The continental breakfasts was good, plenty of breads, crumpets, cheese, ham and salami, etc. The only bit of problem for us was that the room we were in, on the top floor, the wifi was extremely weak. We have to move around the room to find a connection near the door. Obviously we can't stay at the door all night so had to use our mobile data. Like some other reviews on here says, there's NO onsite parking despite whatever they advertise as. You can park in a car park abouts 8-10 minutes walk way for 15 pounds a day or find some on street parking further out. "
