The Agung Rai Museum of Art (ARMA) is based on the philosophies of its founder, Agung Rai. The museum is more a cultural center, dedicated to the preservation of Balinese art and culture and its connection with the community. Established in 1982, and officially opened in 1996, the museum funds its programs through the income generated from the on-site resort and restaurants. Enjoy workshops, have dinner, stay the night or simply browse the collection. See examples of Kamasan art, which is a traditional Balinese painting style. Admire pre-World War II paintings and sculptures by Balinese artists and European creatives who lived in Bali. One of them is the notable German painter Walter Spies. There is also a collection of modern art, depicting traditional and abstract scenes. All signs have English translations.Join a class and learn about the type of Hinduism practised in Bali or about traditional Balinese architecture. Hear traditional Indonesian music and the gamelan, a set of instruments. Watch traditional performances that combine Barong and Keris dance as well as contemporary shows. Create a painting, take a Balinese cooking class or learn traditional basket weaving. You can even try batik, a textile dyeing technique. If you’d rather work with wood, learn the basic elements of carving and discover how to use the various tools. Children can learn dances or discover the meaning of Hindu offerings by making packages from leaves, bamboo and dough. Take a seat in the courtyard, restaurant or café and order Indonesian or Italian dishes. Property a bit on the older side, but for what it's worth. I enjoyed the pool side bar and roof top bar. Restaurant food was great too. Staff services were excellent. Hotel's transportation drivers were courteous and friendly. Definitely recommend a stay here.

Perfect in every way. Villa and hotel are stunning. What really stood out were the staff. Attentive and nothing is too much trouble. In every interaction they were genuinely warm and friendly. Food was great. Spa was excellent.

Kuta Paradiso - The VIP benefits they provide are first rate as you would expect from a resort rated as 5 Star. But the reality of a 5 Star resort as many would expect is just not there. The staff are to be commended on trying their utmost to keep a dated 31 year hotel afloat. The overseas owners of this resort have spent the bare minimum to keep up an image they say is 5 Star but is truly not. The staff are confronted on a daily basis with guests that are not happy with their rooms, and we were one of them. From no cold water in our first room, to a giant ant infestation in the second room bathroom we moved into and then the next room had green mould on the inside bathroom door, and a water leak onto the bathroom floor beside the toilet as well, then a broken box spring mattress, and one pillow that had an awful smell that my wife refused to lay her head apron. I know what the reply will be from the guest relations manger, that they will adjust and make changes to improve, but without the financial commitment from the owners to support the wonderful team that work for them, and give the guests something memorable to remember, then all will remain the same. Give it a try and see for yourself if the owner would stay in one of the rooms. I would say the answer would be honestly no.
