About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Comfy, spacious house, great base for couples and families, dogs welcome.

Located in the heart of the village of Embleton, our holiday house offers easy access to everything beautiful Northumberland has to offer.

The house is a 1 mile, safe and easy walk to the beach and Dunstanburgh Golf Course and 500 yards from the village centre. The house provides walkable access to the village shop, garage and playpark as well as the Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel, Grey’s Inn and the Sambuca Blue Bell.

Whether you have come to see the castles or build a sand one, cycle, golf, play, surf, walk or wild swim, the house is a great base from which to enjoy your holiday.

The house sleeps 5 and has 3 large upstairs bedrooms, one king, a twin and a single, and a family bathroom. All single beds are full size and bedding and towels are included although we ask that you bring your own beach and/or dog towels.
A travel cot is available and can fit comfortably into any of the bedrooms. We do not provide cot bedding as we feel little ones and carers settle more quickly with their own.

Downstairs our cosy living room leads into a small conservatory and out into the back garden. The living room is stocked with a selection of maps, books, wooden bricks and train track, jigsaws and board games along with a TV with access to a DVD player and Amazon Prime. WIFI connection is fast and included which keeps all ages happy!

Our well-equipped kitchen/diner has a walk-in pantry and fridge, a dishwasher, microwave, toaster and kettle, along with a smoothie maker and toastie maker (perfect for easy lunches and snacks after a day at the beach). The dining table comfortable seats 6 and a highchair can be provided.

The front door opens into a spacious hallway leading to the kitchen/diner and the living room. Our side door entrance leads off the drive into a tiled boot room and utility area with a washing machine and fridge/freezer and leads onto the downstairs toilet, boiler room and kitchen.

With off street parking for 2 cars, a front and back garden and an outside tap, the access to the house makes for easy loading and unloading from a day at the beach with sandy children, dogs, surf boards or golf gear.

Ideal location
Overall it was a good property. A nice quiet location, it had everything needed but I would get an Airfryer instead of the gas oven, would save a lot of money

Really lovely
We would recommend this property. Great location for the beach. Clean, well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds (thick duvets, so we used only sheets/blankets provided). Some board games for kids. Shower needed careful reading of instructions! Overall a great stay.

Lovely house but niggles need to be addressed
This is a really nice, deceptively spacious house in a great location for exploring the lovely walks, beaches and sites of Northumberland, and let at a very fair price. We all enjoyed our stay but there were a number of minor niggles that combined together, took the shine off what is a really great house. The central heating timer had not been updated to reflect BST - slightly annoying and already mentioned by a previous guest. The heaviest, thickest duvet we ever experienced which was way too hot to sleep under - we ditched the duvet and made do with sheets and the spare blankets provided. Communication via the Vrbo website was non-existent, but Liz did respond quickly to texts. The conservatory and garden could be real features of the house, but just seemed a bit neglected and sad. The Covid information was extensive and a little unnecessary - a reminder of times we'd rather forget. Overall, we just felt that with a little bit of effort, and attention to detail, this could have been a 5 star review.

Embleton Family Stay
The house was ok for the few days we stayed, there were somethings that are now looking tired and could be improved. The garden was VERY uninviting, we never actually used it, even though the weather was very good. We did not let our dog out in the garden alone, as we were not sure how safe it was.The front garden and driveway could do with some tidying, and did not look inviting when we first arrived. The small conservatory had a smell about it, either urine or mould, we left the back door open when we were in the house to ease the smell. The timer on the heating had not been changed after the clocks went forward at the end of March, therefore the heating was coming on at odd times, we did not alter the time. Cleanliness was ok, but things like mould behind the bathroom door and window cills and windows let it down. There is also a very large " brown/leak" mark on the ceiling in the small pantry, not sure what it was. We had an Ok stay, fortunately only for 3 nights, and we were out every day. I feel sure if things are cleaned and tidied, it would be a much nicer home to stay in.

Great Hiday Home
We visited Driftwood for a long weekend. This was a really comfortable, well set up holiday home. Very well equipped, loads of games and puzzles, lots of beach’s equipment too. Embleton is a perfect base for exploring the area and is only about a 20 minute walk to the beach. From there you can of course walk for mikes and miles in either direction. 10/10

Lovely home in great location for exploring Northumberland
One of the best equipped and homely homes we've stayed in. There was everything you could need and lots of homely touches. A great base for exploring the area, in easy driving distance of many sights. Very comfortable beds and plenty of room for a family of 5. Only minor thing was we had to wash a lot of the dishes and cutlery etc before use, but that was probably down to previous occupants not cleaning dishes properly. It wasn't a big problem though and we would definitely recommend

Lovely 2 week break
The house is beautifully decorated. The bedrooms are lovely. Also big! We didn’t have children with us but would have been happy if we had- there were lots of books, games, toys, train set , high chair etc . The house is equipped with everything you could possibly need. The location is good- lovely nature reserve over the road, and the walk down to the gorgeous beach is nice, down past the golf club and through the dunes. The walk to the castle is more robust and the path was very muddy so we were slipping, but in the warmer weather it would be dry . It’s a very beautiful walk. The road through the village leads to Seahouses , Bamburgh, Holy Island etc. There is a nice farm shop in the village, and a friendly little shop within the petrol garage where we picked up essentials. We had a fabulous Sunday roast in the Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel. The location was perfect for visiting the surrounding area and also to chill and enjoy the Bay on non car days. We can’t wait to return.

Home from home
Nice house, central for all the places we wanted to visit. Plenty of space for family of 4 adults. Well equipped, nice little touches (hand wash/WU liquid/Washing powder, etc.) Lovely comfortable beds and clean, crisp bedding. Only downside was the smell of dogs downstairs and on occasions noisy neighbours (raised voices) Feel the carpets would benefit from a deep clean. We would happily book for another stay.
