"This was probably the weirdest hotel experience in my life. The huge manor has been converted to a hotel but has been neglected recently (including a time housing asylum seekers - Google it). The time around 10 of the 100+ rooms are being used so you “rattle around” especially when you’re the only guests!! "No formal reception but you push the doorbell and are greeted very well. Shown to our room (Lords) and the owner explained how things worked including getting a good evening meal at the pub about 400 feet away! Owners were very helpful with a couple of questions we had and breakfast was excellent (we only had omlettes but other guests had a full English). We would definitely stay again."

"The bar and restaurant are great and the food is exceptional, one of the best meals I have had! I stayed in Room 15, which I have stayed in before, which is a bit on the small side and could do with a tea making table instead of having to use the bedside table. The worst issue is that on both occasions', the room has a strong smell of "drains/damp" Whilst I would happily stay here again, I would not stay in this room again"
