"Best trip this year The hotel was always hit or miss we found, no consistency but something has changed The staff are always really pleasant without going over the top and the food in the restaurant this time was faultless, great breakfast too It’s a shame some guests feel it necessary to waste so much food but you can’t take the scum out of the person This has no reflection on the hotel….."

"An excellent hotel conveniently located opposite Newcastle Central Station and within easy walking distance to many shops, bars,and attractions, the reception staff are so friendly and helpful and are a credit to The County Hotel. This was my grandson's first stay in a hotel so wanted to make it a good experience for him and this hotel did exactly that. Would definitely recommend this hotel and stay again next time I'm in Newcastle."

"Great short stay at the Copthorne whilst visiting Newcastle & Gateshead for a Christmas shopping weekend. Very nice hotel on the waterside, away from all the usual hustle but very easy to find and close enough to walk into the centre within 15-20 mins. The price for 2 nights was very affordable and the room was great for the price, spacious and warm with comfy beds, a very decent shower and enormous TV screen. We didn't eat at hotel as we had early starts and late returns but the food choices on offer looked reasonable. Unfortunately the weather was against us with storm Darragh hitting the area so we couldn't visit a lot of the places we'd planned for, but there are great shops, pubs and restaurants in Newcastle & Gateshead so you don't have to be outdoors . Will definitely return to this area and hotel when the decent weather comes. "
