"This was a spacious, comfortable and unique property in a good location. It was immaculately clean. There is a Lawson store next door and a number of good restaurants nearby. It is in walking distance to the Heian Shrine and Nanzenji Temple. Bus stops are just outside and subway stations are very close. The hotel is on a busy street, but the room is well insulated and very quiet. It has a washing machine that is supposed to also function as a dryer, but we didn’t have much luck with the dryer...

"An exceptional stay from start to finish. Gracious hospitality, a true time capsule with updates in all the right places. The japanese breakfast every day was truly memorable, and the coffee shop on the property was beautiful as well. I could not recommend more, 10/10 stay, worth the price! "What a gem!! We stayed for 4 days. Had to readjust our arrival and departure date at last minute due to typhoon Shanshan☹️. They even refunded our last day stay without asking as we had to leave a day earlier due to approaching typhoon.We arrived at midnight by train and the manager met us on site to welcome us and explain everything. Having a washer and dryer in one machine on site saved us! We would do a load of laundry every night and in the morning have clean clothes. Saved a lot of time...

"The location was great, easy 5 min walk to subway and bus. Only 15 mins to market and shopping. The room was comfortable and a good size for Japanese standards. It is nice to have a kitchenette and there was free water. We only received 1 towel each and had to ask for extra towels which was not a problem. I asked for an extra pillow and they did not have any, that is a first and very unfortunate since it made my sleeping less comfortable."

"This hotel was in the perfect location, close to shops and the vibrant Nishiki Market, which was a highlight of my visit to Kyoto. The location is excellent, as it’s also not far from the city’s famous temple attractions. It made exploring Kyoto so convenient and enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area!"

Kyoto Nanzenji Garden Ryokan Yachiyo Established in 1915

"This is a must if you plan on staying at Kyoto! Super easy to find and it a nice quiet part of Kyoto but not too far from the action. My wife and I got the room with an Onsen. But first I’d like to add that all the staff there are super friendly, attentive and very kind. Little Japanese is needed to stay here as the staff is very versed in English. Our room was so neat and clean and our onsen was amazing, we’ve used it quite often knowing we were only there for 2 days, also the food was amazing you’ll get a choice of either Japanese or western breakfast as well as a bunch of different dinner options but reserve in advance at least 3 days to lock in the type of food and time you wish to eat. Overall the experience was 10 out of 10 we will definitely be back the next time we go to Japan. "
