"Really fabulous room, the breakfast was great. Staff were very friendly and a credit to your business. If I had to say one thing negative, the mattress was extremely hard which may be to some people’s taste."

"We had a fab stay, there was a little queue at check in and only 2 staff on so the queue moved a little slow however i believe there was an event on the evening so the hotel was quite busy. We were offered a room close to the spa which was quite far from the main reception however perfect for us as we wanted to be in a quiet location and this was perfect. The hotel is like a maze! We encountered many people lost with many corridors and multiple lifts in different areas it is very easy to get lost in! We ate breakfast in the hotel which was buffet style, we arrived around 9am and werr seated straight away. It was average but nice. We used the spa facilities and on the evening it was quite busy and not really enough space for everyone. We had nowhere to sit and relax the pool smelt a little funny but not sure of what tbh. We left after half an hour and returned the next morning which was much quieter and cleaner. The staff also seemed much more friendly and happy to help in the morning (we didnt encounter any rude staff just the morning ataff were more upbeat and friendly) we passed cleaners along the corridors who were happy to help with directions and all seemed friendly. The christmas decorations around the hotel are stunning and really get you in the christmassy mood. Would go again and would reccomend for a little chill break. "

"Carpark not far from the hotel, hotel will stamp the ticket to get reduced price for you. Bit of a wait to book in, but as it was a busy time, to be expected. Hotel clean, staff welcoming. Room with a view of the town and football stadium. Could hear music from across the road, close the window and it is much quieter. Bed was comfortable, shower excellent and room clean. No complaints whats so ever. Would stay again"

"Ive had some fun of late finding hotels to stop at that are off the beaten track so to speak. As much as a Travelodge is useful they are generally quite soulless. And once every now and then you come across a complete gem. The Marine Hotel is one of those. The place itself is absolutely lovely, situated nicely on the beachfront in Hartlepool, its old school but full of character. The ceilings in the bar area are super high and the food is hearty and potions large. But it’s the staff that make this place. They have a tough time having to run between the bar and the reception check in but they are fun, attentive and in some cases downright brilliant. I personally witnessed the night watchman take it upon himself to aid a man from Germany whos company had screwed him putting him in a hotel whose check in closed at 9pm and who didn’t have a room for the night. Despite the Marine being full, the lad rand dozens of hotels in the area to find the guy somewhere to stay eventually succeeding. Most others would have washed their hands, this guy restored faith in humans (just sorry with my stupid brain I forgot his name! I THINK it was Andy?!?! lol! If you are reading this sorry mate!) Oh and to top it off they have Caffereys on tap. I hadn’t had a pint of that since 2005. Amazing place and if I head back to the ‘pool I will be returning. "
