Hermes Barcellos Public Park (Parque Público Hermes Barcellos) is a great alternative for those that want to be outdoors but also wish to take a break from the city’s busy beaches. Hermes Barcellos Public Park received a makeover in 2016 upon the request of local residents after it had suffered several years of neglect.
Visit the park today and you’ll find couples, friends and families sauntering along the boardwalk of the centerpiece lake. Partake in some light exercise or sit on the grass verges and watch the world go by. On sunny days, the palms trees and surrounding hills reflect perfectly in the water. Take this opportunity to snap souvenir photographs.
The park is huge and has plenty of space for children to run around, ride bikes and play games such as soccer. There’s also a small playground, which has slides and swings. Bring food, set up a picnic on the lawns and linger a while amid this peaceful environment.
Once you are satisfied with your time spent here, you’ll find other top city attractions located within a short walk. Browse art exhibitions, see displays of antique fishing objects and attend live music events at Manoel Camargo Cultural Center. The venue stands adjacent to Arraial do Cabo City Hall. Nearby Avenida Governador Leonel de Moura Brizol is a street packed with bars, restaurants and shops.
Hermes Barcellos Public Park is just south of Prainha Beach. Parking is available inside the main entrance, which is on the park’s western side. Hotels and guesthouses line the streets between the park and Prainha Beach.
