We booked it to be closer to Volcanoes National Park, without realizing there was no road that cuts across. "Very quiet setting. We stayed in the Wolfie Suites, which were very clean and had a nice sitting room in addition to the bedroom. Very comfortable beds. There are no staff on the premises and you have to check in at a store which is a few minutes drive away. They prefer to know in advance exactly what time you expect to arrive for check in. Location only a mile from the park entrance was great."

"This is the real Hawaii! The property is located in a relatively remote area about 30 minutes south of Pahoa. Beautiful setting in the middle of a forest not too far from the beach. "This is the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Understated and tasteful elegance. Fantastic rooms with amazing balconies, world class beach, impeccable service, excellent grounds, fine dining at Manta, but also a beachfront casual bar/restaurant, and Copper Bar in between and our favorite. They have an Asian Art Collection worthy of a museum. This was out of our usual price range, a big splurge, and worth every penny.
