I booked “Ferman Konak Hotel Special Class VIP access” through Expedia, but when I arrived, the place was completely different from what was advertised. I reached the accommodation at 2 AM, and the next morning, I immediately contacted Expedia to inform them that the photos advertised their website were actually from a nearby hotel called Ferman Hotel. We visited that hotel and confirmed it matched the advertised images.
The place we stayed in felt more like a rented room in someone’s house. The road outside was littered with rubbish, and there was ongoing construction. Breakfast wasn’t even served at the same place. The entire experience was terrible, especially since I had travelled for medical reasons.
The building reeked of cigarette smoke, there was severe mold in the bathroom which triggered my asthma, the hot water was not enough, the shower drainage was constantly blocked which probably caused the mold as well, and upon check-in, the staff informed me that I had been “upgraded” to a three-person room—without asking if that was something I wanted. When I got to the room, I realised there were no mirrors, despite them being shown in the Expedia photos.
I feel completely scammed by this booking. I contacted Expedia immediately, and nearly three weeks later, I am still waiting for a response. Every time I call, I’m told they are waiting for the property to get back to them. I am at a loss for words.
