"The private onsen was amazing, refreshing, and relaxing. The 12 course breakfast and dinner was delicious. We stayed 2 nights and had the shabu shabu hot and crab dinner the next. The staff was superb. All our needs were met and exceeded customer service. The whole place was clean and quiet. Perfect for celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. This experience was a very memorable one. Thank upu Hakone Airu. We hope to be back again very soon. "

"Loved staying at this almost 400 year old onsen! I stayed two nights, which was perfect for me on my little two week solo Japan adventure. My room with the private onsen was clean and spacious. "This ryokan is very conveniently located beside a bus stop, which makes transportation easy around the hakone area. They also have a shuttle bus to gora station. "The exterior looks old but the interior seems to have been renovated and it is in excellent condition including the room we were in. The private onsens are in outstanding condition, the public onsens are great although not as good. The breakfast was excellent with several Japanese and western dishes. The place is close enough to the train station to walk but far enough so that the noise of the town does not bother. "

"Great staff: we reached very late at night. The manager was kind enough to extend our onsen reservation for half hour without us asking. He stayed well past the midnight to make sure our onsen experience is complete! We are so grateful to him. Moreover, the facility is much nicer than we expected: Large lobby and living facilities, great decor and the private onsen is out of this world!"

"Property is about 10 mins walk from the Bus station and Hotel does not provide shuttle to and fro, hence it is inconvenient to pull fhe luggage during winter time to the hotel. The back door of the hotel helps for quick access to the Yubate. Morning and Dinner buffet offer a very good spread but there is no need to book half board for more than 1 night as menus are largely the same. "

"Very nice hotel! The food for the half board was so good and the facility was beautiful. We went when it was snowing and the view from our hotel balcony was stunning. The private baths were also really nice as well as the public baths. It was a walking distance from the station so it was a breeze to get there (~5min walk). For being my first time in Japan and on an onsen, everything was easy to understand. The staff were also very helpful. Will definitely come back here again. "
