I drive this route once in a while and always book this hotel both ways. It isn't fancy in any way but to me it's a quiet little gem in a busy area and the staff are always helpful and friendly. A few thoughts at random- there is a good complementary hot breakfast; the check-in and checkout times are very convenient for the traveler; they have the most elegant indoor pool that I've seen in any hotel; it's a great stopover before or after fighting the LA freeways (I do a Sacramento-San Diego route); even though there's no elevator (handicapped rooms are downstairs) I don't mind carrying my luggage because I like the place so much. Five stars well deserved.
