"This is a lovely friendly pub with excellent staff. The locals were welcoming as well. The beer brewed on the premises was excellent as was the food. I can't fault our stay there. Plenty of parking at the pub now, with a new car park. Handy travel time to Critch, Matlock and the Peak District. Located on the side of a steep hill, so walking anywhere is a good bit of exercise!"

"Didn’t know what to expect, as some reviews are a bit harsh. We were greeted on News Years Eve by a friendly young lady who gave us instructions to our room - which was in a separate building (but up different stairs if going through the hotel). Ideal accessible room round the back - you can drive the car and park outside the room more or less. Room over looked the pool area. Room itself was plenty big enough for 3 adults. V clean, super ‘Dove’ body wash/shampoo/conditioner and body cream....

"Good welcome, room was lovely and warm and bedding clean and plenty of pillows and spotlessly clean towels. Nice touch of biscuits and chocolate. Great location and good price. Sadly there were signs of mould around the door and bathroom tiling could do with a more intense cleaning of the grout as orange/yellow build up, plus I shared the bathroom with two very large spiders that were well established as had webs in corners. Having said this, I would use the Wellington again as really convenient...

"Amazing! We were initially put in Room 3 which we found a little disappointing for what we had paid. We asked for Room 5 (our very favourite room) and we were delighted to change rooms (although slightly confused why we hadn’t been offered that one first?). "Stayed here after visiting Chatsworth House, the staff were very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Our room had been upgraded to a suite, which was a pleasant surprise.
