"This is an apartment turned into hotel so with that overall it was fine. Positives are right across the train station, friendly staff, clean. There was a motorcycle noice early in the morning and you can hear people talking at night. I was happy to find that place."

"Hotel is very close to all the world heritage sites right across from the parking lots. Walking distance to sites and train station The half board option is very nice. Dinner served in the room There is onsen on premise The hotel is somewhat older but that maybe part of its charm. We chose to stay in Japanese style room with tatami floor. The futon was much more comfortable than I thought. "

"We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Ootaki and would definitely return. The hotel is very traditional and gives you a real insight into traditional Japanese culture. Although the staff had limited English, this was not a problem for us and they were incredibly welcoming and helpful. The hotel has lots of freebies as part of their service including combs, hairbrushes, shower caps, razors etc. The onsen was very relaxing and the hotel was clean. "

"The place was okay, but a bit rundown. We went as a family, and I would not recommend doing so as there is only one shared shower for the entire place, which makes the stay a bit inconvenient. We had two rooms -- one was renovated and looked okay, while the other was more rundown and not so nice. The toilets upstairs were also a bit old, but the one downstairs was renovated and much nicer.
