"This is a really, really lovely hotel. It is a little bit of a step back in time, but in a lovely way. A really grand building that has been well kept whilst it is still possible to imagine how grand it would have appeared to people when first built. It made me smile whenever I was walking around it. I was there on business, but Carlisle seems like a very interesting place ... I will be back to both Carlisle and the Crown and Mitre!"

"Just a one night stop over in the city. Hotel next to railway station so a good location. Generally very clean but parts of room whilst clean were a little tired. There is a walk along the salmon river to the fishing hut before you return to the sitting room with a real fire and a G&T at the honesty bar.
