Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The staff are friendly and well intentioned and the manager (Christian) is proactive and responsive, but the redeeming qualities of the resort end there.
-while friendly, staff had zero follow through (orders and requests were forgetten regularly)
-we had an in room jacuzzi that we were unable to use because of the visible dirt/sediments on the tub
-new room we were transfered to had brown water pouring out of the spouts (we had given up using the jacuzzi at this point even though it was a paid for amenity--it wasn't worth the headache of switching rooms again)
-got food poisoning from breakfast at El Mar (two full vacation days wasted recovering from this).
-drinks were watered down and VERY sweet
-limited dining options (app that the resort used included wrong info about restaurant hours)
-service in general was mindnumbingly slow (if you were not at a restaurant lined up when they open, you will need to wait an hour to be seated)
-same with beach and pools chairs, we had to be up before 8am every morning to ensure we had a spot for the day
-pools were freezing and jaccuzis were luke warm
I find it hard to believe a resort of this size would have the ratings it has given the inconsistency of service we've received. Maybe we were unlucky and caught them on a bad week, but at the end of the day, when you're spending time and money on a vacation, I don't know that I'd leave things up to chance.
