"Unfortunately for the hotel and me I arrived as the heavens opened. This was compounded by there being no available hotel parking. On returning from public car park soaking wet I was told the dining room would not be opening. I had invited two guests and pre booked a table for three. No compensation was offered. The helpful receptionist got us into a nearby (excellent) Thai restaurant. The room was excellent."

"The room was spacious and I liked the all in one wet room. The building is old so if anyone is outside or loud in the bar you hear it. The one thing to note is the pool is not free - it's 5GBP for each use, which is not quite what was advertised. There's also no lift so you have to carry all luggage upstairs."

"Proper old fashioned English pub with wonky beams, wonky floors, wonky windows and doors, dark oak furniture and a myriad of corridors and rooms, with a courtyard and even a dartboard. Free parking round the back on Talbot Street. Half to a third the price of Travelodge and Premier Inn but five times the atmosphere. Only gripe was no kettle and tea or coffee in the room so I took my own. "

"Clean and comfortable room, evening meal was good along with good local cask beer. A bit of a job finding the pub as the sign was overgrown with Ivy, everywhere outside seem to require a good clean up, hedges trimmed and generally tidied up. The pub itself could do with a bit of TLC. I am aware that pubs are strugling in the present climate. Enough said and good luck. "
