"Seemed a bit expensive for what was offered (no breakfast/cafe da manha) but accomodation was extremely tight on Sao Miguel Island vs. Faial Island. A bit of traffic in the st. but I still slept well."

"Peaceful & tranquil, to the highest standard, looks like a brand new hotel with a new pool area. A lovely double room with huge shower & aircon. A small fridge in the room. Cakes available at tea time & a superb continental breakfast with cooked eggs."

"This is the best hotel in the middle of the most exciting part of downtown Ponta Delgada. Parking could be tricky if you're renting a car but there are options nearby so it would be a short walk. Fantastic restaurants are everywhere and generally you won't need to walk uphill on your way home. I'd say more specifically nice things but this is my favorite hotel and I want to have it available for my next visit. Patricia is caring and wonderful and is ready to help whenever and however you need....

"It’s a beautiful home overlooking Ponta Delgada. There’s a beautiful pool in back and it’s extremely walkable as you are right in the old area all section of the city. Everything is very comfortable."

"Overall the experience at Casa Ateneu was a positive one The only complaint I have is the lack of communication with staff The code for the entrance was changed in the middle of our stay and we were not told about it until an hour after we had to reach out to the staff An "included" breakfast never arrived, and when we asked about it the message was never responded to These aside, good location, well kept and positive experience. "

"I went in the off season so there were only ever a couple other guests in an 8 room Guesthouse - but the space is very well kept, clean, pretty. The courtyard is nice. Eduardo is helpful. I think it would be more difficult to share the kitchen space and you’d hear other people more if the place was full. Overall though - a good spot! Basically within the old city so it’s nice! "

"Livramento is a small town so very quiet and easy to find parking. However, you may need to rent a car if you choose to stay here. Price is reasonable. Rooms size OK, beds OK, and water pressure of shower was stable. Facility was good - shared dining room and 3 x washer machines (4 but 1 was broken). A market is within walkable distance for breakfast and food/water. Cleanliness 3 stars - the rooms were clean. However, there were insects inside the apartment, and this annoyed couple of my...

"This place was amazing. We had our own bathroom and one of the best views ever. The staff was excellent, the rooms were always clean and fresh smelling. Was a little skeptical at first with no air conditioning but we never needed it. There was a ceiling fan installed during our stay as well as the balcony door opened all day and night. Never felt hot, easy to sleep. Excellent stay"

"This aparthotel was very clean and updated. Staff at front desk were very helpful if you needed something. Breakfast room was nice and food was excellent. We had a two bedroom ocean view which was quiet, clean and had a nice view of the harbor. The sofa bed was sized for small children so they needed to provide us with a rollaway bed for my adult son. "My friend and I stayed here for 9 days and it felt like home after a while. The staff was so friendly, greeting us coming and going like we were family! The free breakfasts were delicious and well-rounded -- everything you could possibly want. We had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant one night (there were plenty of options nearby as well, so we tried a new one every night) and the service and food was exceptional. The beach nearby was wonderful for walks (though it was too cold for us to swim in March). Driving around the island was very easy; our location allowed us to visit anywhere we wanted within 30-60 minute drive."

"Staff is the best part of this hotel, they are amazing, friendly, patient, and accomodating. View is stunning, restaurant food is fabulous. And the hot breakfast has enough options to fill you up before a good hike. 1 minor nuissance was our single beds instead of 1 queen. They were a little firm, but there are mattress covers in the closet to compensate for much of this. Would recommend, WILL return. "
