St Brelade's Bay Beach

St Brelade\'s Bay Beach which includes a beach and general coastal views

Take kayaks and inflatables out on the water. Then watch the sun set from seafront cafés and restaurants backing onto Jersey’s principal sandy haven.

St. Brelade’s Bay Beach is perhaps the most popular and iconic stretch of sand on the island of Jersey. The medieval edifices of the Parish Church of St. Brelade and Fisherman’s Chapel decorate the beach’s northwestern corner, while hotels, spas and cafés are at its rear. Capture photos of the jagged green headlands enclosing the bay in the distance.

Stroll out along the narrow pier at the western edge of the beach and feel the breeze in your face. Skirted by elegant white railings, the pier stretches out atop a small rocky promontory and offers a postcard-pretty vista of the rest of the strand. Amble through the green woodland joining the pier to the sand and spot the array of boats in the shallow waters of the makeshift harbor.

A little farther along is the Parish Church of St. Brelade. Marvel at the stained-glass windows and stone pillars in the nave. Visit the 12th-century Fisherman’s Chapel, which is among the few surviving medieval chapels on the island.

Stop at the rental outlet to rent watersports equipment to take out on the bay. Organize kayak tours, inflatable pull-rides and a variety of fun water activities.

Go swimming with your kids in the clear, safe bay, whose enclosing outcrops ensure the waves are particularly calm. Warm up again by sunbathing on the sand or take shelter on the western side of the beach, which is in the shade in late afternoon.

Try the oysters, crab and other seafood delicacies from the restaurants backing onto the beach. Stay for the sunset and watch the hues of the sky gradually darken.

Tucked in the southwestern corner of Jersey, St. Brelade’s Bay Beach is south and west of the primary residential parts of St. Brelade. Leave your car in one of the parking lots across the road from the bay. Visit nearby attractions, such as Sir Winston Churchill Park, Les Creux Millennium Park and Beauport Beach.

Not a large choice for coffee break. Cafe we chose refused or was unable to fill water bottle for our continued walking as their water came from a bore hole!
