"This hotel is a just out of the way gem. A historic hotel from the 1800s still in operation. It goes without saying a wood structure that old is going to have a high maintenance workload. The age of the hotel also gives it an amazing vibe. It is beautifully decorated with antique furnishings. The staff are excellent, friendly and accommodating. The two restaurants are very good, the Burger I got in the Divide was one of the best I’ve had anywhere. The bartender was a very interesting and engaging gentleman that you don’t run across often. The bar was lightly populated when I went and was ghostly in a tangible hanging in the air kind of way. The hotel is a nice reprieve from the compact and crowded downtown and is truly rooted in the real local Appalachian culture. A historic treasure."
