"Central location, grand exterior, room was generously sized but decor not particularly luxurious. A bit stuffy in the room ( 25 degrees c. ) as they turn off the climate control in the autumn, I guess to save energy/costs. The windows can be opened but that didn’t help if you want to shut out light and noise. Very helpful staff, organised transfers to/from Santiago with the excellent driver Adrian. I like the option of eschewing housekeeping service in return for a free drink at the bar. "

And adjoining the hotel is a lovely cafe where I had breakfast in the morning. Quick service and delicious (especially the croissant). However---be aware!!--the check-in process (at least for me) required me to leave my passport with the front desk staff for the duration of my stay. This made me very uncomfortable. Typical procedure (I have traveled internationally for years to Europe, South America) is for front desk staff use one's passport to verify...
