Competitive price and a great location
From receiving the arrival details to leaving the property at the end of our stay, we couldn’t fault a single thing. Hilda was informative regarding the check in procedure, there were biscuits crisps and pop on the table for us, and the house was lovely and warm. The cosy electric ‘log burner’ style fire made the lounge feel even more cosy The property was extremely clean, the bedding lovely and the beds comfy. The property is located in an excellent spot right in the heart of things which we felt was perfect for our weekend break and yet was still nice and quiet whenever we were indoors. We would definitely stay here again.

Great cottage
The owners are fantastic!! Very friendly and gave lots of useful information. We were concerned that my disabled mum might not cope but the stairs were manageable with help. I like the location as it’s only a stones throw from a lot of useful shops including Java which do excellent cooked breakfasts. There is an alleyway immediately opposite to take a short cut down to water front with fantastic fish and chip shops. The beds were comfortable and there were goodies waiting for us when we arrived. We found it really useful having parking permits. When we’ve stayed in other cottages in Whitby before we have had to park a long way away which is no longer possible with elderly parents. It was also really useful to be able pull off the street outside the cottage to unload the car. The street is very narrow. There is a cute little terrace/courtyard area out the back if you wanted to have a drink out there on a warm evening. The cottage doesn’t do recycling (presumably as there’s no where to keep the bin?) but we collected it all and took it to the household recycling up near Sainsbury’s. This isn’t a requirement, just our preference. All in all a lovely week was had here!!

Brrr
Although the heating system is efficient the single glazing and no draught proofing made a winter stay uncomfortably cold. Overall the cottage is in need of decoration and simple upgrades to eg cutlery would make for a better experience. The beds are comfortable, but flimsy curtains aand rattling windows it difficult to sleep. It's probably great in summer!

Cosy home a short walk to Whitby Harbour
Ideally placed for popping in and out of Whitby, a few minutes walk down quaint cobbled alleyways to reach the harbour front. There is no parking at the property but thankfully the owners had arranged a permit and sent precise details of how and where to use it. There was a thoughtful welcome gift of Raspberry lemonade and snacks when we arrived thank you Hilda & Paul. The bedrooms are large and very comfy the bathroom is also huge downstairs the living room is comfy with 2 large leather couches the kitchen/dining area is very small but contains everything you need and there is a small rear yard. For the price we paid I’ve no complaints but it would benefit from some tlc.

Great location, spacious cottage
Lovely cottage, very spacious and full of character. There’s a large lounge with two comfy couches and a TV. The kitchen diner has a cooker, microwave, toaster and ample dishes, glasses, cups and utensils. A lovely touch was the surprise welcome pack. Three stylish bedrooms (one on the first floor with the bathroom, two on the second floor) with wardrobes, drawers and comfy beds. The bathroom has a roll top bath with claw feet and a separate shower. It’s in Cliff Street on the West Cliff side but nowhere near the top. There is no parking space but there is a parking permit and I got a space without a problem. Penrith Cottage is dog friendly with enclosed outside space, including a patio table and chairs on the upper level. Everything was clean and tidy and comprehensive directions and advice were supplied by the owners.

Not much outdoor space but what they had needed a touch up.could be nicer.upside in a excellent position for whitby.everything you need just not really finished to a good standard class between 3 and 4 star.

Cosy cottage in fabulous location
I loved this cottage- right in the heart of Whitby old town- just 10 minutes walk from the harbour and beach. The street was very quiet yet just minutes from shops and cafes. Best bit was daily dog walks along the beach watching the sunrise!! Loading and unloading was a challenge and parking is some distance away- but the charm of the cottage and the proximity of everything you need makes this worthwhile. The hosts were very helpful, offering advice and support. We were there for Christmas week and arrived to find a very generous and festive welcome pack. Thank you

Whitby at its best!
Totally as described. Accommodation clean; well prepared and presented; suitable for all ages; wonderful location; central, within walking distance for all Whitby essentials; wonderful views of the Abbey across the Whitby roof-tops (particularly from the top floor front); steps to the front door and vehicle parking may be issues. Everything that could be wished for a care-free break. Superb communications with the owner. Would book again.
