Watch the lions, tigers and polar bears in replica habitats, go shopping in the Safari Village and let your kids run wild in myriad play areas.

In Yorkshire Wildlife Park, vast animal kingdoms occupy diverse terrain. The zoo’s sections transport you to South America’s tropical surroundings and the arid plains of Africa, among other realms. View majestic creatures as you travel through the 70-acre (28-hectare) park.

See lakeside polar bears at the park’s western end. The Giant Otters and South American Viva! enclosures sit nearby. Head south along the Woodland Trail for lemurs, meerkats and pack painted dogs. In the east, you’ll find Lion Country, not far from tigers, leopards and rhinos.

Spot ostriches, zebras and antelope in the heart of the zoo. Baboons, wallabies and camels are among the other animals spread across the park. Attend frequent events such as Bear Facts, Deadly Bugs and Meerkat and Mongoose Feeding Time.

Visit Safari Village for the orangery in the Safari Café and the candy at Laura’s Fudge. The Masai Coffee House stands in the shadows of giraffes and woodland, while nachos, burritos and other Latin American cuisine are offered in ¡Caramba! Indulge in ice cream and doughnuts in the Leopard Kiosk or bring your own food for a picnic at one of the wooden tables.

The animals are not the only ones at play here. Bring your own little ones to the webs and climbing features in the Monkey Playhouse, which also has a café. The Zoom Super Slide Barn, Big Bugs Play Area and Jungle Adventure Play Area also compete for your child’s attention.

Get your tickets online to receive a small discount. Discounts are available for seniors, students and children, while toddlers enter for free. Note that the park opens daily from morning until late afternoon.

Beside the airport in Doncaster’s southeastern fringes is where you’ll find Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Drive from the town center to get here in 15 minutes.
