Located in centre of the highland village of Weem in Perthshire, and surrounded by beautiful scenery, Smiddy Cottage is the ideal retreat for couples, friends and family to spend time together. Guests will find a welcoming and comfortable cottage at any time of the year.
The cottage was built in the 18th century, and legend tells that the first occupant was an Italian sword maker from the time of the Jacobite rebellion, and it was later converted to a smiddy. Bonny Prince Charlie stayed in Weem Castle on his way to the Battle of Culloden in 1746 and there are many more historical sites, castles and monuments to visit in the surrounding area.
Smiddy Cottage is great for exploring the glorious countryside with extensive walking from your doorstep, a gentle stroll along the River Tay, or explore the ancient Weem Wood which is steeped in myth and legends of demons and dragons!
