Asahidake Onsen Yumoto Yukomansou

3.0 star property
8.8 out of 10, Excellent, (29)
"We just spent five weeks in Japan and are still talking about the food we ate here. It is nothing short of spectacular. We paid quadruple at other ryokans and this one had the best food, best location and the best onsens. It’s an older place with older, big onsens and for us that was the charm of it. The rooms are very clean, the beds are comfortable. The staff was incredibly kind. We went skiing one day and snowshoeing the next and ended up seeing a red fox each day. Really can’t recommend this...

Asahikawa Toyo Hotel

3.5 star property
7.4 out of 10, Good, (684)
"I was disappointed with the quality and cleanliness of the room for the price. It was rather worn. Additionally the air conditioning was not strong and could not be adjusted with a thermostat. Probably the worst thing was that even though it was a non-smoking room there was a faint smell of stale smoke and part of the carpet had a very bad smell too."

"Hotel is old and dated. Room’s aircon is barely working. Hotel is located right opposite a big mall ( Aeon) and has restaurants, Food courts, supermarket. And JR is right there. There’s no parking at the hotel; public parking is across the street, with very few lots. "

Hotel Lavenir

"The hotel was very convenient. If you arrive early the hotel will hold your luggage. The room was very spacious compared to Japanese standards. The room was clean. The Japanese breakfast had many items to choose from. If you’re not going around in a car this hotel is great and before the hotel from the station, the tourist information office is there. The Biei tourist office runs a tour bus around Biei twice a day. Also get your train and bus schedules. The trains comes every 2 hours after the...

Hotel Taisetsu ONSEN&CANYON RESORT

3.5 star property
8.4 out of 10, Very good, (77)
"Japanese standard room was very spacious, although a bit worn around the edges. The rooftop outdoor onsen had a spectacular view of the snowy mountains at sunset. The food offered in the standard half board option was ok, not great, very cafeteria like. If you're passing thru the area, it's a good option bc of the onsen, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay there again."
