"A 2 night stay, part of a longer vacation. Tucked away in spacious grounds in a quiet area, yet still easily accessible with the A75 nearby. The staff were very friendly and helpful on our smooth check in. The hotel itself was a grand old building set in spacious grounds, with its own golf course and plenty of woodland walks, and a 3 mile walk to the
beach
. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, well appointed and clean. We enjoyed an evening meal, the food and staff were very good....

"This is a beautiful and luxurious property. We really enjoyed our stay here. We are three middle aged women (plus 2 elderly cats) and it was perfect for us with an en-suite bathroom each plus an enclosed utility room for the cats.The estate is beautiful with lovely walks and is close to Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright and Gatehouse of Fleet, all of which are within a 20 minute drive. We visited Threave, Cally gardens and Broughton house as well as the Red Kite experience and some local alpacas!...

"Kippford is a pretty village on a beautiful river estuary and the location of Thornleigh is stunning - a stones throw from the
beach
where we swam and paddle boarded. The house is very spacious and well equipped with amazing views to appreciate the sunsets. The house is comfortable rather than luxurious but that suited us perfectly as we could relax and feel at home and we have all agreed that we will make Thornleigh an annual event!"

"We loved Berkeley from the moment we arrived - that view! The house was spotless and the owners had left wonderful welcome treats - wine, crisps, fresh scones and even dog treats. The kitchen is fantastic - all of the appliances and utensils are superb quality. The snug behind it was a cosy retreat on wet days for reading a book, and was well stocked with board games.
