Housed in a majestic red building with a firm pediment and columns, the Emmanuel Christian Centre is a religious chapel with a community known for its welcoming philosophy. Meals and religious ceremonies bring believers together in a lively and friendly complex that contains a chapel.
Arrive outside the church and admire the Neoclassical features of its façade. A white dome and green spire rise from the building’s roof. Stone pediments and a row of six pillars mark the front, which has green window frames. Enter through the main portal and enjoy the tranquil ambiance of the chapel, which was built in 1909.
Study the impressive stained glass that depicts biblical figures and passages. The church often offers lectures by visiting speakers about a great range of topics connected to religion.
Try the cakes and coffee as you talk with fellow visitors. Get lunch at the café that opens on Thursday afternoons and chat with the clergy and worshippers for a sense of the local community.
Attend one of the prayer ceremonies that take place throughout the week. A prayer breakfast is set up on the first Sunday of the month. Enjoy a meal and join the revelers at the Victorian Extravaganza that is put on annually on the May bank holiday. Note that the church gets involved in projects to help impoverished communities around the world.
The Emmanuel Christian Centre is a few blocks inland from Llandudno Bay, in the central part of the town. Take a bus to a nearby stop or arrive at the city’s main railway station and walk northwest for about 5 minutes to reach the church. If you choose to drive, leave your car in the adjacent parking lot. See some of the other nearby attractions, such as the Llandudno Town Hall, the Llandudno Museum and the Home Front Experience.
