"Good discount on normal 1 night price made this hotel stay unmissable. Literally across the road from Buxton Opera house. However, our double bed was 2 singles joined together and my mattress was hard, like sleeping on a table top or floor. I wasnt allowed to book breakfast at time of room booking (£24 for 2) so we walked down to Wetherspoons (10 mins) and had it for £12 for 2 with unlimited Lavazza coffee. "

"The location of Old Hall is excellent and this needs to be factored into the price you pay compared to other nearby hotels and the quality of them. Breakfast is fresh and tasty with enough variety and this is included in the price, which many aren't. This hotel offers comfort, my bed was fine, room was spacious. Floor are unlevel, of course they are, it is an old hotel, it has character reminiscent of days past, yes it's worn and needs renovation but to upgrade to meet everybody's needs...

"Staff were helpful and great to talk to, and parking was convenient. Actual hotel is a bit of a walk from town centre, so bear that in mind (there is a bus stop within a 5min walk). On the other hand the area was nice and quiet (although I did stay outside of the academic year). Also this hotel has communal kitchens on each floor where you can cook and store leftovers, but there is no restaurant, although the Halifax Hall nearby does if you need a meal."

"We stayed for 1 night to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. Our first impressions were that it had a lovely buzz about it and the hotel had been refurbished to a very high standard. The staff were extremely polite, friendly and helpful. Our room was immaculate and had all of the facilities one would expect.
