"Falkland is a beautiful Scottish village. The hotel is on the main street. There are a few coffee shops nearby. There is a great deli next to the hotel & the lady who runs it was so accommodating. "Arriving late on a dark evening, it looked unwelcoming - but the lass on reception made up for that! The room was large and warm, with wooden furniture, and the "curtains" were wooden shutters: it felt friendly. Characterful: the ceiling must have been about 4m up, an a bit of box trim (proably hiding pipework) made a useful seat or low shelf. Everything worked. The station was a 5 minute walk, town centre likewise. I'd go back if in the area again."
