Under the Clock Tower (Greek Traditional 125m² home)

A traditional Greek house that is in our family for the last 180 years has been renovated just recently in order to fulfill the requirements of modern life. You will find appealing the view from the balcony and the terrace. You will treasure the quiet neighborhood. You will enjoy your sleep on our new COCO-MAT mattresses and pillows. Last but not least, you will have the feeling of how life used to be in Old Nafplio.
The house blends the traditional Greek architecture with new quality materials such as Iroko wood (balcony, windows and shells) cypress wood (5 handmade-woodwork beds, 1 couch/bed,3 drawer desks, 2 sofa/beds and 6 kitchen-table chairs, 3 traditional chairs, 2 handmade rocking chairs, 4 balcony chairs, 1 balcony table) Karystos stones for insulation to the mountain side. The house is also equipped with:

* 4 A/C units
* 2 Bathrooms
* 2 kitchens (1 fully equipped/first floor +1 kitchenette/second floor)
* 4 bedrooms (3 Bedrooms/first floor +1 newly added Bedroom/second floor)
* 2 water heaters (boiler)
* 1 traditional balcony and terrace.
* 1 Washing machine (free use)

For winter time, apart from the a/c units the house is also equipped with new central heating(10 radiator units) and electronic control panel for temperature regulation (please ask us for guidance before use). All windows are double glazing for best heating/cooling/sound properties.

* Important notice: Our two-floor house can sleep up to 8 adults on extra comfortable beds (not sofa beds or couch beds). For this we equipped all our wooden handmade beds with COCO-MAT matresses and mattress substrates. Even though our two sofas and one couch can become beds we do not count them in the number of maximum guests. However, if a guest desires to sleep on a couch/sofa bed we can prepare that as well.
Please check our two floor plans at the photos 31 and 32 to have a thorough insight of our house.
We believe that it is something unique and appealing to stay in a neighborhood in the heart of Old Nafplio where any kind of vehicles do not have access.However, everything is in 5-10 minute walk down the stairs(Bus station,churches, syntagma square,cafes,restaurants,archaeological museum,harbor,small shops) and 10-15 minute relaxed walk to Arvanitia beach. Please mind that our house is not suited for people with mobility issues, because of the stairs.
We will personally guide you to our house upon your arrival and give you information about your stay in Nafplio. We will be there for you when you need it and we will give you space to enjoy your vacation. We also provide free frequent cleaning of the house (floors,kitchen,toilet)
* At the time of your arrival,the house will have mineral water in bottles,marmalade,dry bread,coffee,sugar and milk.
* We offer change of bed sheets/towels and cleaning every 3 days of your stay (free of charge).
Unfortunately we cannot guarantee the safety of small kids or infants because of the stairs. The windows do not have any kind of height restrictions for the kids (this is because such additions to the houses are not permitted under the archaeological law of Old Nafplio)

Sadly, weeks after booking, our reservation was canceled by the property owner. She claimed it was booked on another site but who knows. We ended up in a hotel which, while lovely, was not the experience we were going for. was

Amazing Place to Stay
This property below the Clock Tower was an amazing place to stay. Communication with the owner was stellar with prompt and very clear directions. We were toured throughout the house and then personally guided to the beach- which was fantastic because I don’t know if we would have found it otherwise through all the winding paths! The property itself was just as described and perfectly located near all of the things to do. The beach was a 7 minute walk and breathtaking. The shops and restaurants were less than five minutes away. Excellent place to stay and would go again!

Great stay!
My husband and I very much enjoyed our house in this quiet and atmospheric Old Town area of Nafplio. The former family home was in a lovely neighborhood with friendly neighbors. The house was very clean and well-provisioned. Our host thoughtfully provided a number of food/drink items so we could enjoy the lovely view from the terrace at breakfast without having to worry about finding a supermarket right away. The host's elder son met us and assisted with our bags the short distance from our drop-off spot b/c the home is in a pedestrian-only area (which we appreciated!). He was incredibly helpful and took time to show us around the house and even texted us the next day to check that everything was 'all good.' I would note that the house is up some steep steps from the harbor & restaurants and that the home's terrace involves a few steps and ducking through a door...but steps & ducking all totally worth it!!! We definitely home to return.

Manolis was a very responsive host and we loved the neighborhood. Steps as described (a lot of them!) were accurate, but we didn’t mind. What we didn’t notice or understand was the lack of any gathering space - no living room. The deck upstairs did have a beautiful view but it wasn’t very practical- the only access to it was a window sized opening - you pretty much had to crawl out. Just be advised. This was a traditional family home and we appreciated that but that also translated to very little natural light.

Our host was gracious and very responsive to our questions. The property is beautiful and well kept. The neighborhood is near the shopping area and the marina, so it’s very walkable, but also far enough away that you can’t hear the noise. It’s the perfect get-away.

Beautiful Nafplio
What an amazing view from this property. Great location to access the old town and the stairs helped burn off all that great food we ate. Highly recommended if you want to experience old town living.

The apartment is in a fantastic location. And very well maintained. The roof top area offers amazing views, in this case it was under construction and that was a bit of a bummer. Hope to be able to visit again and bring more friends to enjoy Greece and this lovely apartment.

Beautiful historic property!
This is a wonderful place in what used to be the castle in the old tow of Napflion. It is modernized just enough to keep you comfortable but still retains the charm of the family home that it once was. Beware when they say there are stairs they are not kidding! But well worth it for the view! Owners son was so helpful in giving information and helping us into the place!

The apartment was in old town with so much charm but also all the amenities we required and more. We truly felt like we were staying at grandma’s house. The views from the rooftop were stunning and the balcony off the main floor gave you a wonder taste of the old town. Our host, Manolis, was warm and gracious and made us feel right at home. Thank you for hosting us!

Wonerful stay in old Nafplio!
We had a wonderful stay in old Nafplio. Manolis was a wonderful host. He met us at the bus station -we had travelled from Athens -and took us to the most beautiful house perched up high in the old town. From the balcony we experienced old Greece - a very quiet pedestrian street - where whe had breakfast, read or just hung out. The house is bueatifully furnished, great air conditioning - and Manolis' mum even baked us a cake. There were three of us so we mostly used the first floor part of the apartment - but upstairs is great as well. (Even more impressive views) Manolis arranged out taxi for our onward journey to Stoupa. We really recommend Nafplio though - it has a wonderful charm and is very relaxed. And we especially recommend this house. Because it's high up - there are a lot of steps - but we liked that!!

Stadtnahe Altbauwohnung
