Delve into the history of agricultural machinery in this engaging Jersey museum, which features vintage farming equipment and steam trains.

Marvel at magnificent engines, tractors and vans from over a century of motoring history at the Pallot Steam, Motor & General Museum. Farming equipment created by famous Jersey resident Don Pallot sits alongside a wide variety of motors and machines dating from the early 1900s onward. Bring your family to this ever-popular Jersey attraction and you could even ride a classic steam train as part of your trip.

Learn about the life of well-known local hero Lyndon “Don” Pallot, an agricultural engineer who invented the Pallot Elevator Digger and other farming innovations. His mechanical mind led to him collecting and restoring vintage vehicles. See his collection in this museum, which opened in 1990.

Imagine what farming was like for Jersey residents during the dawn of steam equipment. Exhibits include the Aveling & Porter Steam Roller, which dates back to the earliest years of the 20th century, and the Dolly May, a threshing steam engine from 1904 that is still operational today. Examine these immaculately preserved machines to see their finer details and inner workings.

The museum also contains a collection of vintage cars, with a regularly rotated display of classic motors. Browse the displays to see military trucks, historical fire engines and wooden-framed cars. Continue exploring the museum to view old photographs of transportation through the ages.

Come to the Pallot Museum on Thursdays to ride one of their vintage trains. Experience the nostalgic sensation of chugging rhythmically along railway tracks, being pulled by a steam engine. The carriages date back to the Victorian era, offering a glimpse into bygone days of travel. Annual fairs also offer the chance to see some of these marvelous motors in action.

Visit the Pallot Steam, Motor & General Museum on any day except Sundays. The museum is located in the parish of Trinity in the north of the island. Drive here from Jersey Zoo in under 10 minutes and the capital of St. Helier in about 15 minutes. Admission prices are reduced for children.
