Browse art and artifacts related to maritime history and then relax at the pool and bar of this stylish beach club.

Capitán Dulché Museum is a museum and beach club set on the Caribbean shores of Isla Mujeres. Get a glimpse into the naval heritage of the island at the museum then dine at the boat-themed bar and restaurant. Enjoy sunbathing and swimming opportunities at the pool and beach.

Exhibits in the museum provide historical and environmental information about Isla Mujeres while photographs show how the island has changed throughout the years. See a display of model ships such as the Calypso, which was the naval ship of French explorer and oceanographer Jacques Cousteau. Cousteau once described Mexico’s reefs as being the world’s finest for scuba diving. Short movies highlight the expeditions of Cousteau in Mexico and the life of the underwater moviemaker Ramón Bravo.

The restaurant has a menu filled with Mexican dishes, including burritos and tacos. Take advantage of the daily happy hour deals on drinks. Reconnect with your inner child by swinging on the swings at the bar. There’s even a bar set around a replica of a life-sized galleon. Regular live music shows create a party atmosphere at the club.

Be sure to bring your swimwear and take a dip in the pool. Alternatively, walk to the beach area, swim in the sea and gaze across the glistening water toward Cancún. Spread around the club’s garden are more maritime artifacts such as anchors, buoys, lanterns and propellers. There’s also a collection of metal sculptures by the Czech-Cuban artist Octavio Cuellar.

Located on the southeast coast of Isla Mujeres, Capitán Dulché Museum is a 15-minute drive from the island’s main ferry terminal. The club is open daily and there’s an admission fee. This fee grants entry to the museum and the use of the beach club’s facilities. Ask about the different daily packages, which include beach towels and umbrellas, and meal promotions.
