"Lovely hotel that is ideally situated in a lovely square with cafes and restaurants within easy reach of the main town. Good facilities and it is worth having a castle view room. Good choice at breakfast with lots of fresh fruit and hot choices. Staff are friendly and helpful and went above and beyond for my 60th Birthday stay especially Alistair on Reception. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again if visiting Edinburgh. "

"Overall happy with stay, Hotel in great location and all the staff friendly and helpful. Lovely bar area to relax and prices not too bad for a hotel. Room itself was ok but comfy. Bit rough around the edges, things like marks on walls and furniture. Other thing was buffet breakfast, when we arrived the things that were available had clearly been on hot plate too long, bacon and potato scones so hard could not eat. They were waiting to bring out scrambled and fried eggs but couldn’t wait as...

"For the price it was perfectly acceptable. Really well located. Bedroom was bigger than expected. Its an old building so had old building problems but every hotel in Edinburgh has the same issues. If on a budget would stay again."

"Property was excellent. Great location and friendly staff. We were not informed that the pool would be closed when we booked. Hotel gave us drinks vouchers and free breakfast for our stay and we had use of a hotel pool 5 minutes away and they arranged a taxi both ways. Hotel said Expedia should have informed us but we couldn’t have changed the booking anyway as we did it non refundable. That was the only annoyance "

"The hotel room was a bit spartan, but the bed was comfortable enough, it was clean, and the basics all covered. The location is amazing though. Right by Waverley Station, perfect for buses to the airport, taxi rank very close. I can easily see myself staying there again. The only issue was the bedroom was overly hot and the window wouldn’t open sufficiently to ventilate it as much as I’d have liked. The price was very good as well."
