This hotel is somewhat of a missed blessing. Tucked in the back streets of Thamel, it can give you some extra quiet. But you still hear traffic noise, including from some construction machinery early in the morning. The hotel itself is neat and authentic looking, but the immediate surrounding is off-putting. You mind it less after your first couple of days in Kathmandu. ;-)
The staff is incredibly nice and not just superficially so. They are all genuinely helpful, command reasonably good English, interested to talk to you. (Maybe the slow season helped this.)
Breakfast was outstanding. Apart from the food, the setting and the friendly staff there make it an enjoyable experience. On my second morning there after my trek they had greatly reduced menu, but I think this had to do with having very few other guests and the fuel shortage. (Everybody complained how this Indian "blockage" was troubling their lives.)
