"The San Carlos has become our home away from home when in NYC. The staff is always welcoming and professional. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious (especially by NYC standards). The hotel is in a great location near a number of good restaurants (Spice Symphony in the lobby is fabulous) and easily walkable from several subway lines. They could use to make some minor repairs (I noticed a number of paint chips, dents and scuffs in our bathroom (Room 908), but that didn't detract from our...

"I love this hotel--the staff is professional and friendly and responsive, and the location is great. This time, though, it was really cold in NY, and the heater was hard to set. The hotel sent an engineer to address the issue--worked--but he had to come back the next day. Still--I will stay again."

"The room was AMAZING! We were on the 16th floor with fantastic views of the Chrysler building in a business executive sweet offering a formal living space, mini fridge, microwave, walk-in closet, spacious bathroom with walk-in shower, and large bedroom. Definitely recommend! The staff was also extra accommodating and super friendly from check-in to check out."

"Absolutely remarkable staff, helpful, thoughtful. The room itself was amazing. Great bed, great shower, and the room was massive. The only downside I would say are the bones of the building itself (hallways, elevator). We knew going into it that we would only be in the hotel when we were asleep, so if you have the same plan, i cant recommend the shoreham more. "

"Great location - great amenities! The room wasn’t ready in time for our 3pm check in which was disappointing but was ready shortly after. We needed some supplies restocked during our stay which they brought right up but everything was one at a time so we had to contact them repeatedly which became annoying but otherwise everything was great. There were no issues that would prevent me from staying again. "

Great Stay

"The hotel's facade and lobby are simply old school gorgeous! Clearly a lot of history here. Our check-in was swift, and the man who checked us in was thoughtful and kind. Unfortunately, the heater in our initial room was broken, and it took some time to get a manager then maintenance in there. It could not be repaired with us in the room, but the maintenance guy said the front desk would call us shortly with the new room number. After an hour wait in a room that was actually colder than next to the front doors in the lobby (I never took off my coat, hat, or scarf), I called the front desk. I had to come down. Agh. Miscommunication there someplace, and we were FREEZING. But we got a very nice alternate room on the same floor, and we were very happy with that (heater AND a better view AND more room!) Central to Manhattan, across the street from Starby's and Liberty Bagel, attentive staff, and excellent restaurants right on the premises! Will stay here again when in Manhattan."

"Very good value. Good breakfast, eggs, bacon oatmeal, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, etc. Close to amtrak and bus lines. 15 min walk to plays. Very quiet and clean. Rooms are smaller but who stays in the room other than to sleep."
