Top notch hotel, conveniently located, good dining options around, clean rooms and good facilities. The phone in my room didn't workand they could do some touch ups (up arrow elevator 3rd floor). Will definitely be back, my favorite hotel in Ottawa so far.

The Lord Elgin is perfectly situated within walking distance of so many of Ottawa's best restaurants. We loved the location as well as the grandness of the exterior and lobby areas of the property. The bathroom in our room had been nicely updated while remaining true to the classic architectural style of the heritage building.

The only thing I feel needs work on are the elevators. They are definitely feeling their age. Very happy with this property in every other way. We will definitely come back here.

It was our worse experience that we ever had at a luxury hotel. The hotel wasnt too bad but the restaurant in the hotel was horrible. We went into the restaurant for happy hour and sat at the bar. We were there 10 minutes before there was anyone that came over to us. We figured we might as well just get our table for dinner. We sat at the table for another 10 minutes before a staff member came to ask us if we wanted a drink, we ordered a drink and a starter salad as we waited for the dinner menu to start in 30 minutes. Our salad arrived 20 minutes later but still no drinks. At 5pm we ordered our main meal. At 530 our drinks finally came one hour after we ordered them and after we finished the salads. The main meals came out mine was warm and my wifes meal was barely warm. We finished out meal paid and left. This morning when we checked out the young lady ( i wish i got her name ) asked how the stay was, so i told her about our experience at the restaurant was. She gave us free parking due to the inconvenience we had the night before. It didnt go unnoticed as at least she tried to make things right where in the restaurant did absolutely nothing to make things right. I wish our experience would have been better as we enjoy going to ottawa for wèekend getaways.

There was a terrible problem at the front entrance, with people parking their cars to unload, or for valet parking. Then they left the cars empty. This created a miniature traffic jam. We were stuck there, unable to proceed or leave for over 20 minutes. Staff must prevent people from parking their cars at the entrance and then walking away while their cars block all traffic. Otoh, we got a very good upgraded room.
