"Very large room with good kitchen. Note - no oven, just microwave/convection, and the extractor fan doesn’t actually take the smoke out, it just circulates it, we set off a smoke alarm. Walking distance from local shops and city centre, underground parking. Free coffee machine (a good one) and free croissants in the morning in lieu of dining room"

"On main road so expect noise didn’t worry us. Hotel is old so a bit shabby and outdated. No towel rack in room, so doing green thing and not changing towels daily ended up with wet towels next day for shower. Shower over bath. Cold shower second day blamed on tour bus group leaving that morning, there system should be able to cope. Very convenient bus to York city just across the road and only 2 pounds per adult, more convenient and cheaper than driving car in. "

"My first trip to York, so wasn’t sure where would be best to stay but this place is perfect! Situated on Walmgate, I easily walked to all the places I wanted to see, usually in 5-10 minutes. The hotel is beautifully decorated, the staff are welcoming, professional and have great local knowledge, and my room was gorgeous, clean and very comfortable. Would happily stay there again if I’m back in York."
